How confident we are, per record
This is the first thing to read, not the last. Each record carries one of three levels, and the distribution is not flattering — which is exactly why it is here rather than in a footnote:
- High — 836 (45%)A person read the property's own page and saw the courts.
- Medium — 588 (32%)A directory listed it and an automated fetch of the property's own site found padel mentioned.
- Low — 441 (24%)A directory says so and we could not confirm it anywhere else.
So 24% of the dataset rests on a single directory listing. If you are citing a count, cite it with that attached, or filter the download on the confidence column and say which levels you kept. The verification method is written up separately.

What it does not know
- Whether the courts are on the property. This is the failure mode that matters and the one no automated check catches: a listing that means "courts nearby". There is a
courts_on_sitecolumn, and it carries a value on1492 of these 1865 records — 72 of them saying the courts are not the property's own, because the operator's page put them a walk away or at a club the property shares. Empty means unchecked, in either direction. If you find one we have missed, it is the most useful correction you can send. - Court numbers cannot be summed. Five clusters here share one padel facility between sibling hotels, and every hotel in each carries its own count, because the directories that supplied them list properties and a shared court belongs to none. Protur says so itself — one pair of courts, "free access if you are a guest of one of the hotels that make up our resort in Sa Coma", naming five hotels. We have not moved those counts: assigning the court to one hotel would invent an answer, splitting it would invent a fraction, and zeroing the others would say a guest cannot play. Instead
court_operatorreadsshared-developmenton 23 records carrying 27 courts between them — so you can find them, and exclude them from any total you compute. - Who runs the court. A court on the map is not always the hotel's: it can belong to the town hall, to a club renting the hotel's land, to a residents' association, or to a sister property in the same group. The
court_operatorcolumn records that where we have checked it, which so far is 101 records. Empty means unchecked and never "the property's own". - Coaching, racket hire and whether court time is free. Recorded for a small minority of records, so the dataset cannot answer those questions and does not pretend to. The columns are present and mostly empty rather than absent, so you can see the gap.
- Indoor or outdoor is unrecorded for 716properties. Absence means unchecked, never "no".
- 185 properties have no operator website recorded, which is also why they are the least verified.
- It is not a ranking. Nobody paid to be here and there is no way to. Order on this site is by evidence held, never by commercial relationship.
